It’s over, it’s finished … Canada’s Endangered Animals is off to the printer. This lovely little book will be officially released to the world on May 12 (just in time for International Endangered Species Day), and there is nothing left for me to do except wait.
Right?
Wrong. There is no rest for the writer. Now that Canada’s Endangered Animals is out of my hands, it’s time to start preparing for its debut — and that includes getting things ready for the official book launch on Saturday, May 30.

The book launch will be taking place at Chilliwack’s own Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve, inside the Interpretive Centre near the parking lot. The launch starts at 1pm, and will include a reading from the book as well as the opportunity to pepper me with questions.
As the poster promises, there with kid-friendly snacks (including cookies in the shape of endangered animals). There will also be free stickers and bookmarks, since I have never known a child to say no to a sticker.
Books will be available for purchase on site, or you can pre-order a copy and bring it with you. (I’ve curated a non-exhaustive list of pre-order locations for you.)
I want to say a huge thank you to the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve for hosting my book launch — they do such great work in the community, and the reserve is a beautiful place for a walk in all seasons If you get bored of listening to me during the launch, just head outside and enjoy the trails and birdsong.
I hope I’ll see you all on Saturday, May 30!
